It's almost spring, and time to decide if you are keen to join us on the ever upward learning curve that has become the Learning Clan.
|
|
Each year has been such an extraordinary mix of everyone's fantastic contributions, and an interesting exploration of living and trading off grid. Thanks to all who have made it what it is and we look forward to some deeper discussions on permanent intentional communities.
|
|
|
As the future hurtles towards us, it makes sense to talk about things that matter, build community resilience, learn earth skills again, shed conditioning, heal, empower ourselves and dance to some primal beats....
|

A time to connect with friends and family, stretch our minds, challenge our comfort zone, walk barefoot, move our bodies and awaken our souls.... as we share skills, and knowledge while offering service to one another, in a money-free, working, playing, living-on-the-land village.

HOW WE ROLL
Once again, we co-create the village at the Circle of Dreams in Riviersonderend.
So, if you are keen to join in this year, it’s time to give it some thought.
If this is your first time, it's a good idea to go through the website. Then you'll know how it all works and you can dive right in and feel at home.
If you’ve been before, check the site anyway for participation suggestions, getting organised and some of our friendly village rules, so it all flows.

DATES
It's best to come for the full duration to get the most out of the village experience.
For this reason there is only one full-week ticket price.
Gates open at 9am on 28th Dec, which is arrival-and-setting-up-your-camp day.
Then 6 full days of talks, workshops, discussions, yoga, demo's, market, bonfires, swimming, playing, singing, chilling, music, drumming... and dancing in the New year with the full energy of our intent. 4th of January is pack up day. 7 nights, 8 days.

TICKETS
We’ve had to put the ticket price up somewhat to cover rising costs. But you can get
Early bird tickets at a reduced rate till end of August.

Cash tickets are always helpful since we don’t get the online payments till after the Festival. So, feel free to send an email to Rod if you would like to pay by EFT directly to the Learning Clan account. rod@learningclan.net

PARTICIPATING
Great content offerings are flowing in. You can find ideas to participate on the website.
We are particularly looking to have more off grid / homesteading demonstrations / practical workshops on growing food, natural building, harvesting water, food preservation, solar heating/cooking/lighting, and other useful earth skills.

VOLUNTEERING
To avoid the need for strangers to help run the village, we take care of village necessities ourselves.
If we all chip in at least one 2-hour shift on the volunteer boards, everything flows smoothly, and we have a cosy village vibe, not an impersonal event.
|
For anyone who cannot afford the full ticket price, and willing to do a shift every day – we will refund half your ticket after the Festival.

|
We need more strong drummers for our ever-expanding sunset energy dance. Please spread the word to any master drummers to join us.

|
Barbs is looking for co-creators of a cosy space for sharing matters of the heart and soul.
|
|
|

Homestead zone
If you are already living an off-grid life, we'd love you to share tips, workshops, lessons learned or any other other earthskills
|
|
|
Benches
|
If anyone has access to cheap pallets or wood offcuts, or willing to hold a woodwork workshop to build some benches at the Festival, please let us know.

|
|
Communal Kitchen
We are looking for a group of friends to run the Communal Kitchen this year.
This is a basic kitchen setup that can be hired out to others for Talents - either to cook up a big meal to sell for Talents, or a facility that can be used by international backpackers who are unable to bring full cooking gear. Your group could also use it sometimes to cook a meal for Talents.
You would need a large tent, tables, some useful kitchen items like chopping boards and a few sharp knives, frying pan, gas bottle, potjie pots, washing up system. This was a very lively and well used facility last year.

FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE

Only members of the group can get into the event page. If you want to invite friends, add them to the group and then go to the event link on the group and invite them to the event. Sorry for the complication but the aim, as you know, is to build our community, not be a large open public event.
